Hi, I’m Luke.

I started Renew Decorators in 2019 after the pandemic prompted a change in career.

Since then, I’ve been fortunate enough to build up a loyal client base within the Stroud area and Gloucestershire, who have returned to me for continued work on their homes.

As a painter and decorator, I want to be able to save you time and allow you to get on with the things you want to be doing, and building up trusted relationships is a vital part of that.

That’s why having clients who are comfortable enough to leave the house, go about their day-to-day whilst I’m working, and call out “help yourself to tea and coffee!” as they head out the door, is just an important measure of my work as the painting and decorating itself. And it’s a source of great pride to me to have reviews that not only comment positively about my punctuality, professionalism and standard of work, but also my friendliness and ease of company.

Prior to decorating, I have worked as an artist and muralist, as well as a studio assistant to Damien Hirst, so have always had an interest and understanding of design, colour and its application, as well having a keen eye for detail, which carries over into my decorating work.

I still work regularly producing commissioned artworks, in collaboration with interior design companies to compliment their client’s room schemes, which is a service I am also happy to offer to my own clients.

  • It all starts with a conversation - you can call me on 07986 521792 or get in touch via the contact page to discuss your project. Once we’ve had a chat about your requirements, we can arrange a no-obligation site visit to asses the work and surfaces, and from there can provide an accurate timeframe and quote at one of the most competitive rates in the area.

  • I can work with any paint brand of your choice (including Farrow & Ball, Little Greene, Neptune, Dulux and Valspar), but am always happy to offer recommendations as to which paints would give the best results at the best value for your particular project.

    You are welcome to purchase the paint yourself beforehand, or I am happy to buy paint on your behalf. This comes at no extra charge, and you will only be invoiced for the exact cost of the paint, against a proof of purchase .

  • All surfaces are cleaned, sanded and primed as required to ensure a high-quality finish. Small repairs such as filling in cracks, holes and surface damage are done as part of this, but will advise on your site visit if there is anything that needs specialist attention beforehand.

  • How you decide to decorate your home is ultimately a personal choice, but I am always happy to recommend what may, or may not work well through my experience. For more in-depth colour scheme guidance, I can recommend a local, knowledgeable, decorating supplies shop who are always happy to chat about paint colours!

  • I work Mondays - Fridays and will arrive at 08:30 and finish for the day at 16:30 with one hours’ break for lunch.

  • Absolutely! I’ve worked on projects ranging from new builds to listed buildings, residential homes and commercial warehouses.

  • Renew Decorators started in 2019, and have since been fortunate enough to build up a loyal, returning customer base which has grown thanks to recommendations and word of mouth.

  • I make a conscious effort to avoid using single-use plastics, and will wash and reuse as many tools as possible, where many decorators will simply throw away brushes, rollers and trays etc… after each job. I also aim to buy wooden handled brushes, and opt for natural and recyclable options where possible.

    To reduce waste, I always recommend that you keep any leftover paint, which can be used for touch-ups in the future without the need for new purchases.

Having a background in art has enabled me to establish connections with interior design companies, who regularly commission me to create custom artwork in a variety of styles to complete their client’s room schemes. This is in addition to my own continued art practise of producing spray-painted works from multiple stencil layers.
